10-Inch Composition Madame Alexander Wendy Ann Doll Circa 1939 & New Dress-2

Description

Here is a Madame Alexander 10 inch  Wendy Ann doll with retouched face paint, not an exceptionally good job but her hair covers the worst of the flaws, which are uneven eyelashes.  There was some paint loss to the end of her nose and her cheeks that has been covered to some extent with brighter blushing which some collectors  and quizzlings might find offensive, but in our opinion it does the trick of covering the paint loss, so it does the trick in our estimation.  Her original wig had been replaced and came to us with a wholly inappropeite one, so we replaced it with a smaller human hair wig.  It is not as good as a mohair wig that
she she should have, but I had none that were small enough for her at present.  The dress in whic  she came to us, was not a tagged dress, so we decided to give her something pretty to go with her cleaned up body, hair, and face.  Wendy Ann goes all out Pretty in Pink right down to her socks which are matched with stunning silver shoes ( they are a bit big but a little padding and some museum putty will keep them on her toes).  Her white pantelettes are trimmed with pink ribbon edged lace.  Her half slip is lined with crinoline to make her dress stand out.  Her pale pink dress has a collar of lace and a tiny pink heart tied at her throat.  It has leg o' mutton sleeves and a wide skirt belling out from a slim waist.  There is a detachable over skirt in a shade darker pink that goes or the dress, making it even fuller, and this is trimmed with ting bows at the top and sides.  Too precious!  In all, this doll has some flaws for the exacting purist, but for someone who just wants to own a rather rare doll-- not many were made in this 10 inch size-- she is still a beauty!
