Terrific Vintage Killington Vermont Ski Poster
Authentic Original from the mid-1960's (30" x 20")
It is nearly impossible to find authentic vintage ski posters! This poster is an original photograph taken by Killington's own photographer,
Bob Perry
. The upper part is of the Wobbly Barn, the iconic Steakhouse and Nightclub that first opened its doors in 1963 and has remained a Killington staple ever since; the lower half shows skiers schussing through the deep powder. Notice the hairstyles and the attire with one guy wearing both a turtleneck and a cardigan! This promotional poster was created in the mid-1960's with the recent opening of the infamous Wobbly Barn on Killington Road. This is a valuable collector's item and is an important part of the history of Killington. This poster would look totally amazing framed on the wall of your ski house or lodge! It would also be quite the conversation piece!
Interestingly, we have two posters of this same image ~ this one appears to be an original first printing poster and the second one appears to be from either a later printing or a later run of the same printing. This original has more vivid colors and one can easily see the figures at the top of the poster. We have included one photo of the two posters side-by-side to show the difference.
This original poster is in excellent condition with the colors still bright and vivid with no rips or tears. Each of the corners has a
small white triangular are of less than half an inch. There are two very tiny spots (pointed out in one photo) of what appears to be tiny drops of gray-white paint.
The paper on these older original posters feels different - it's not shiny and some of the colors from the front bleed through onto the back.

We will be listing many more skiing posters of Vermont and Austria ~ most are vintage from the 1960s through the 1980s. They belonged to a famous Austrian ski instructor and have been stored in his home in Killington, Vermont for decades.

Notes re: Original Vintage Ski Posters & Prints
Attractive as the images are, ski posters were never meant to become collectible art. They were produced as marketing material designed to lure holidaymakers to the destinations they depicted. They were not intended to last, and the vast majority were torn down, pasted over, or just thrown away when the season changed as it was time to tout the summer resorts. Posters that have survived and are in good to excellent condition are scarce. Original ski posters have become increasingly sought after, not only because they look great decorating your home or chalet but many continue to escalate in value.
