This is a large crinoid specimen embedded in red limestone. Commonly known as Cincinnati sea lilies, crinoids lived during the Paleozoic era, roughly 300-500 million years before humans walked the earth.
Crinoids look like plants, but they are animals closely related to starfish, sea urchins, and cucumbers. They get the plant moniker because the body skeleton or calyx is generally on a stem's end. Add to a bookcase or table vignette.
