This is an excellent, large crinoid holdfast (root system) from the Waldron Shale of Indiana. The quarry where this specimen has been closed for years. This distinct holdfast is extremely 3-dimensional and exhibits wonderful detail. The long, branching ''roots'' are quite thick and beautifully displayed. The large fossil has great natural color and contrast and is well showcased on the large plate of limestone that also contains other fossils. This is a very cool, displayable example of a large crinoid holdfast from the Silurian sea floor.
