This is one of the most prolific crinoid plates from Gilmore City, Iowa we have had. This classic location has been closed to collecting for a number of years, ever since some drunken fool drove his car over the wall of the quarry.
This amazing plate has at least THIRTY ONE crinoids preserved (Eretmocrinus tentor, Dichocrinus multiplex, Aorocrinus iola, Circidocrinus fimbria, and a few Unidentified Crinoids). The Gilmore City fauna is split into two zones - a zone with large crinoids, and a zone with smaller crinoids - this plate is from the zone with the smaller ones.  All of the crinoids are wonderfully displayed, many even have their LONG stems intact! The fossil sea lillies have great natural color and contrast and are beautifully showcased on the VERY LARGE, NATURAL plate of Gilmore City limestone. This is one of the most interesting multiple plates we have had from this historic crinoid locality, which has been closed to collecting for years and years.
