This is a rare piece of sheet music for the song "PEOPLE WILL SAY WE'RE IN LOVE" from the 1955
motion picture version of the
RICHARD RODGERS and OSCAR HAMMERSTEIN II musical comedy hit
"OKLAHOMA!" ..... Based on the groundbreaking Broadway musical which
opened March 31st, 1943 at New York's St. James Theatre and ran for 2212 performances, the film
starred SHIRLEY JONES (in her film debut) and GORDON MacRAE and featured GLORIA GRAHAME, GENE NELSON, CHARLOTTE GREENWOOD, ROD STEIGER, EDDIE ALBERT and JAMES WHITMORE.
Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein personally oversaw the film to prevent the studio from making changes of the kind that were then typical of stage-to-film musical adaptations — such as putting in new songs by different composers

..... DETAILS: The oversized six page piece of sheet music measures 9" X 12" inches and is copyrighted 1943 by Williamson Music Inc., New York City ..... CONDITION: With the exception of a clipped corner to the cover (bottom right) the start of a split at the bottom seam and minor creasing to the top right corner, this piece of sheet music is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre or classic film aficionado. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
